Shall The Proposal Be Approved?

Oklahoma Citizenship Requirement for Voting Amendment

SUMMARY

The current text of Article III, Section 1, of the Oklahoma Constitution says, “Subject to such exceptions as the Legislature may prescribe, all citizens of the United States, over the age of eighteen (18) years, who are bona fide residents of this state, are qualified electors of this state.” This constitutional amendment would change the word “all” to “only” in the text. A “yes” vote supports amending the state constitution to provide that only U.S. citizens who are 18 years old or older can vote in elections. A “no” vote opposes amending the state constitution to provide that only U.S. citizens who are 18 years old or older can vote in elections, rather than every citizen.
